The Authors

Dr Stephan Sanders - BMedSci(Hons) BMBS

Stephan studied medicine at the University of Nottingham where he wrote a textbook on endocrinology and reproduction. He has been writing books ever since including the best-selling Oxford Handbook of the Foundation Programme which is used by the majority of first year doctors in the UK.

Stephan initially trained in paediatrics at Northwick Park and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals before moving to Yale University in the USA where he is undertaking a PhD looking at genetic variations underlying autism (http://tools.medicine.yale.edu/state/www/index.html).

He has been an expedition doctor working for the BBC on a number of television series and was awarded a Diploma in Mountain Medicine by the University of Leeds.

Dr David Metcalfe - BSc(Hons) MBChB

David graduated with a first class BSc(Hons) in Biological Sciences with Molecular Genetics (2006) and MB ChB (2010) from the University of Warwick.

He won over twenty awards at medical school, including the Pridgeon Gold Medal for Scholarship at graduation. He published widely as a medical student and joined the Academic Foundation Programme (Vascular Surgery) at St George's Hospital in London.

David teaches medical students at St George's University of London and at University College London where he is a PDS Tutor in Medical Ethics and Law.

Dr Harveer Dev - BA(Hons) MBBChir

Harveer used six A-levels (grade 'A') to win a place studying medicine at the University of Cambridge. He graduated with a BA(Hons) in Natural Sciences (2008) and a MB BChir (2011).

He won a number of prizes at Cambridge and undertook an elective in urology at Weill Cornell Medical College (Presbyterian Hospital, New York). Harveer published widely as a student in urology and is currently an Academic Foundation Doctor (Surgery) at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
